About Me
Dr. Corey Roos, Ph.D.
I am a licensed clinical psychologist who is passionate about helping adults and adolescents struggling with mental health challenges. I completed my doctoral training at University of New Mexico and my clinical internship and post-doctoral training at Yale University. Currently, I conduct clinical research in my role as Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at Yale School of Medicine. Much of my research focuses on developing smartphone apps to prevent relapse among individuals with chronic conditions, such as substance use disorders and eating disorders. I have published over 50 scientific articles and co-authored a book on mindfulness-based therapy. For more information about my research, see my Yale profile page here.
In my clinical practice, I utilize several therapeutic approaches that are backed by research, including cognitive-behavioral therapy, mindfulness-based cognitive therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, and psychodynamic therapy. Rather than focusing on only one approach, I draw from a variety of approaches, and I aim to match specific therapeutic tools to your needs and preferences.
I have expertise treating adults and adolescents struggling with: (1) anxiety, depression, chronic stress, (2) alcohol or drug use problems, (3) eating disorders (binge eating, disordered eating, anorexia, bulimia), and/or (4) chronic pain.
As a therapist, I value collaboration and compassion. I strive to honor your needs and preferences and always treat you with respect and dignity. Finally, I believe that the role of therapy is not only to reduce symptoms, but also to enhance quality of life, meaning, and purpose in life.
